WHAT'S A TEST FENCE?

There's a stretch of land in Fort Myers, Florida, that's filled with 100,000 weather-testing panels. We call it the "Test Fence." And these 6.25 acres are just one more way we continue to lead the coatings industry. What does this mean to our customers? Peace of mind. Because evaluating, testing and retesting our products in the most accredited test facility in the industry leads to durable, reliable results for your project.

How we do it

Rigorous Testing

Through rigorous testing, we learn more and more about how weather conditions affect various coatings. UV rays, moisture, humidity and temperature fluctuations are critical variables for formulating new materials as well as improving on old formulas. We're able to accomplish this in two unique ways:

Long-term Natural Exterior Weather Exposure

The Test Fence enables us to expose our metal coating to the elements in real time. Our subtropical, Floridian location provides conditions that are ideal for natural exposure to approximately 100,000 panels at various angles. The oldest panel is from 1968.

Laboratory Accelerated Weathering

When a faster method is needed, we count on in-house Technical Engineers to put various coatings to the test. This involves a battery of tests that subject material to fluctuating temperatures and intense sunlight in a shorter amount of time.
